Our innovative partnerships
We have partnerships with universities across the globe spanning teaching, research and industry engagement. Here are some examples of current innovative collaborations.
Zhejiang University
Delivering impact in teaching through our Joint Institute with Zhejiang University in China. Students study University of Edinburgh undergraduate and postgraduate biomedical sciences degrees at our joint international research institute in Haining.

Mastercard Foundation
Our partnership with the Mastercard Foundation is one our key engagements in Africa. The Scholars Program supports 200 talented African students to complete their studies at the University of Edinburgh alongside extracurricular training in leadership, entrepreneurship and service to their communities and countries. Una Europa
Una Europa is a unique alliance of 8 of Europe’s top universities working together to create a truly European inter-university environment where outstanding research is continuously linked to transnational and innovative, critical thinking. The flagship project, 1Europe, launched in December 2019, with funding secured through the Erasmus+ programme under the European commission.
Low Carbon College
Our Low Carbon College, is a joint initiative between the University of Edinburgh, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Lingang City, and is based in a custom-designed facility in Lingang, south of Shanghai. An innovative centre for the exchange of ideas, talent, technology and resources to tackle global environmental challenges.
Edinburgh Local
Working closely with regional partners including local councils, business groups and public and community services means we make a demonstrable contribution to regional development.
